Coming up with new topic.

In the previous post, I have given the topic on what I wanted to work on but during the class Dr. Teoh said the chosen topic was overly done and cliche. Therefore I had to brainstorm on another topic and it needs to be in line with my current interest now which is speaking.Therefore Dr. Teoh has suggested me to do on communication strategies and perceived oral proficiency. To be honest, I am not so keen of the topic but I will take it as a challenge and I will take up to it.

Assessments

For this subject there are 4 assessments to be completed by us which are


  1. Quiz
  2. Assigned Task 
  3. Research Proposal
  4. E-Portfolio
Assigned Task, Research Proposal and E-Portfolio are inter-related to each other. E-Portfolio is the ongoing report on what we have done so far. It keeps us grounded and focused on the targeted goal which is completing the research proposal. Completion of assigned task is actually a stepping stone in completing the literature review which is the second chapter of the proposal.

Therefore, in completing all three assessments I am interested doing on code-switching which is a part of speaking anxiety.

Topic: Addressing Speaking Anxiety among KPMIM students: A case study

Research Questions:
  1. Do all respondents experience speaking anxiety in English classrooms?
  2. What are the causes of speaking anxiety among the students in the English classrooms?
  3. What are student's coping strategies to overcome speaking anxiety?
  4. How do anxieties vary from one programme to another?
Will be showing what I have come up with to Dr. Teoh later. Hope she approves.

Nemesis Revisit

I never actually liked research. Never did when I was doing my degree and never did when I had to do action research for my college. I recall being taught by Dr. Lee Lai Fong for Academic Writing and Research Methodology by Prof Dr.Hazadiah. I was really in a rut back then. But somehow I managed to score an A- for my AE (academic exercise) under the supervision of Pn. Hamimah. Funny isn't?

But this time, I have to face this dreaded subject again. To add to that, it is the first subject for my masters programme. Somehow I am stuck in a rut again with no interesting topic to work on for the time being. I hope it will turn out OK just how it did 5 years ago.

Welcome all to my humble blog. Praise be to God, I finally get to find time to start on this e-portfolio. Despite the late start, rest assured all the necessary content will be uploaded soon after I am done with this entry.
Let me introduce myself. I am Nor Shazwani binti Mohd Hanapi; Matric No: 2013421896 and currently pursuing Master in Education (TESL) under a joint program of MARA-UiTM on a part-time basis. In completion of the EDU 702 Research Methodology, I have to complete this blog (e-portfolio) as one of the assessment requirement. I am at present an English college teacher at MARA Professional College of Indera Mahkota, Kuantan with 5 years of working experience
